WEEK 13 Quote

Quote: “Thou art God. It’s not a message of cheer and hope, Jubal. It’s a defiance—and an unafraid unabashed assumption of personal responsibility” (510).

WEEK 12 Short Fiction Story

Creative Writing Option: Naomi Mackliff
“Kristen, the Evangelical church waits for your miracles”.
Kristen walked up to the aisle with confidence and placed her hand on the young boy’s injured arm from a skateboard incident. His injury healed instantly and everyone applauded and yelled hallelujah to the name of Jesus.
Kristen always knew she had a special talent, she once fell on the playground when she was 11 years old and scraped her knee. After crying, she stared at her hurt knee and it began to heal. She was excited at the discovery of her ability to heal herself and told her mother right away. Her mother was a Cuban middle-aged woman who practically lived in the church all of her life and was convinced that her “superpower” was a gift from God.
The members of the church raised Kristen after her mother died, and today she is a 32-year-old woman who heals injuries for people of the church and on mission trips. However, she doesn’t cure people who are not Christian because Pastor Marcos said that whoever isn’t a believer of Jesus or committed to the evangelical form of Christianity is not a real Christian and should not be healed. Kristen only heals holy people who are sons and daughters of God, because of the spiritual gift he has given to her.
This is similar to what Mike went through with Patty and how Digby is an Archangel like Foster

WEEK 12- Man is the Animal that Laughs

"She tried to explain all this to Mike, giving him her theory of the complementary and functional nature of narcissist display and voyeurism, with herself and Duke as clinical examples" (375).
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
This quote has to do with my topic on feminity and masculinity and how the society constructs these perspectives and the fight over whether these are natural human ideas or socially conditioned.

WEEK 11-If robots are slaves, can logic be freedom?

“Compare what computers do today with what we call "thinking."
Clearly, human thinking is far more flexible, resourceful, and adaptable” (Minsky 1218).

Will Robots inherit the Earth?

"You'll be committing yourself never to lie to him, never to mislead or deceive him in any way, to stick by him come what may--because that is just what he will do with you."
